Who we are
Afraid to Fart is a personal publishing and workshop project run by Marion Bevington, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. When this page says "we", "us" or "our", that means Marion. You can reach us at hello@afraidtofart.com.
What we collect, and why
- Account & purchase data — your name, email address and order details when you buy a book, join the Famalam membership, or book a workshop. Collected via Stripe at checkout. Used to deliver your purchase, send receipts and download links, and provide customer support.
- Quiz answers — if you take the quiz hosted by our email partner (GoHighLevel), your answers and email are stored there so we can send you your results and follow-up reflections.
- Newsletter signups — your email address, used only to send the emails you've asked for. You can unsubscribe from any one.
- Contact form messages — what you write and your email address, used to reply to you.
- Site analytics — anonymous, aggregated visit data via Plausible. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers.
- Server logs — short-lived technical records (IP address, page requested, timestamp) kept by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.
Legal basis (UK GDPR)
- Contract — to deliver what you bought.
- Consent — for newsletters and the quiz; you can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests — minimal logging to keep the site secure and to respond to your messages.
- Legal obligation — to keep transaction records for tax purposes.
Who processes your data on our behalf
We use a small number of trusted suppliers. Each one is bound by their own privacy and security commitments.
- Stripe — payments and checkout.
- GoHighLevel — email, quiz, and customer relationship records.
- Lovable Cloud / Supabase — website hosting, database, file storage.
- Resend — sending transactional emails (e.g. your download links).
- Plausible — privacy-friendly, cookieless site analytics.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookie-like storage we set is a strictly-necessary session token, used to keep you signed in to the member area. Plausible does not use cookies.
How long we keep your data
- Order records: 7 years (UK tax law).
- Member account: while your account is open, plus 12 months after closure.
- Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form messages: 24 months, then deleted.
- Server logs: 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to: see what data we hold on you, correct it, delete it, export it, or stop using it. Email hello@afraidtofart.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're not happy with our response you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
International transfers
Some of our suppliers (e.g. Stripe, GoHighLevel) process data outside the UK. They do so under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards approved under UK GDPR.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever this changes. For anything material we'll also let you know by email if you're on the list.
